Sunflower Festival
for Ukrainian Relief

To all who contributed to the SUNFLOWER FESTIVAL for UKRAINIAN RELIEF held at Peterborough Square on August 20th, and to the "preview" event during the FirstFriday Art Crawl on August 5th, thank you so much! Because of you all, we were able to raise over $10,700 for the GlobalGiving Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund (https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/ukraine-crisis-relief-fund/)!
The "preview" at Atelier Ludmila Gallery (Thank you Laurel Pluck!) was a perfect warm-up for the main event, and the energy last Saturday at Peterborough Square was palpable! The Square — the home of the Artisans Centre of Peterborough — donated space, tables, chairs, custodial assistance and support throughout the set-up, event and cleanup. The tables showcasing the many donations from the artists and artisans of Peterborough and the surrounding area — both in the outdoor market space and the atrium — made an extraordinary display! Local businesses made the posters (Shaun Milne Signs), helped to advertise the event, and even donated materials for the children's table (Gerri's Arts and Crafts). Members of regional arts organizations helped to get the word out.

The members of the Artisans Centre of Peterborough who managed the till worked tirelessly (or at least, seemed to, although we are sure they were exhausted at the end of the sale!), and Studio 201 members kept the tables looking beautiful as the contents gradually disappeared. Finally, to top it off, the musicians who entertained the crowd all day — Tim Rowat, Luba Berezuk and her trio, the McDonnel Street Gospel Quartet, Cluny Macpherson, and Dianne Latchford and Jean Grieg — were incredible!

Quite simply, it was quite the day! Again, thank you! This has been an inspiring demonstration of what this community can do to help.
