W2510B: Channeling Georgia O'Keeffe

Instructors

Spend the day exploring the innovations of a remarkable woman, who made huge contributions to twentieth century art history.

Georgia O’Keeffe's work so often based in nature, featuring flowers, leaves, fruits, shells and bones as well as landscapes, flows from clear representation to purely abstract spaces with gorgeous sensual movement. Her colours tend to be more conceptual than naturalistic, adding to a sensation of clarity. Truly something to inspire and channel for every studio practice.

Date: Saturday, October 25th, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

Course Fee for non-members: $235.00

Preparation:
Please research a little on Georgia O’Keeffe and her work. Look for examples of her work that speaks to you, and bring printout images - 1-3 if possible so we can discuss them one on one for possible composition and/or starting point.

Material list:

  • Your choice of paint and colour palette. ( acrylic is most suitable)
  • Minimum of 3 supports to paint on, any size, but at least one that you consider ambitious (larger) can be canvas, paper, panel, etc.
  • Some drawing implements, i.e. pencil, charcoal, conte, acrylic markers etc.
  • Please start a bag or box a week or two ahead of the class and toss in anything that you think you may want to have on hand in the studio. Better to be over prepared just in case. If you purchase anything, keep your receipts so you can possibly return items.
