W2410A: Stephen Tulk- Essential Anatomy for Building Your Life Drawing
SOLD OUT
This one-day workshop will address what I have observed to be recurring areas of difficulty in building a dynamic life drawing. We will discuss human anatomy as it serves to clarity (or even solve!) these problems.
o Making the gesture drawing more intentional and less rushed
o Finding the drama of dynamic poses
o Believing your own eyes in foreshortened poses
o How to attach the head and neck to avoid headless figures
o Useful landmarks of the head and neck.
o What are the visual elements that make a drawing interesting?

ARTISTS BIOGRAPHY
Stephen Tulk
Stephen Tulk, MD, FCFP, B.Sc. (AAM), CMI. I am a family physician and medical illustrator who also taught Anatomy for Artists and Life Drawing for over 20 years, at the AGO, OCAD University, and the Haliburton School of Art and Design.
Both life drawing… and practicing medicine… has taught me how to observe. I believe that, for the artist, studying the figure is essential to understanding who we are, and the opportunity to really examine another human in the studio is an enormous privilege.
